Detroit River Schooner Program: Summer Season

July 29-August 8
For the fourth straight year, U-M’s Detroit River Story Lab will be sponsoring educational sails for organized youth groups on board the schooner Inland Seas in July and August. These three-hour outings will provide a unique opportunity for local students to experience the river from the decks of a tall ship while learning about the environmental and cultural heritage of their home communities.
The hands-on curriculum, presented by Inland Seas instructors, U-M faculty, and community experts, will focus on local marine ecology and the
rich historical legacies of the river, including its important role in the Underground Railroad and current struggles for environmental justice.
